FISH CREEK — Eric Hyde, property manager for three Door County State Parks, is the recipient of a Hero Award from the Friends of Wisconsin State Parks.

Hyde is this year’s recipient for his leadership as outstanding DNR land manager overseeing Peninsula, Newport and Rock Island state parks.

The Friends of Peninsula State Park posted last week about the honor.

Since November 2020, Hyde has been the property manager responsible for overseeing the parks that host over one and a half million guests at the three parks each year.

He is not only responsible for the well-being of those visitors but is also the protector of the plants, wildlife and delicate ecosystems that call the parks their home, according to the Friends group.

Under Hyde’s leadership, the parks have added and upgraded amenities and services for visitors to Peninsula State Park include the new Eagle Tower and canopy walk, a remodeled Nature Center and amphitheater, an all-access playground, rest room upgrades and resurfaced roadways.
