BAILEYS HARBOR — Residents and visitors will now have another option for groceries when visiting Baileys Harbor.

Harbor Market Grocery, located in the Harbor Market Shops in the same building as Luke Collins Photography, could open in early May, according to posts on its social media pages.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding while the finishing touches are put on this tremendous undertaking,” owners Whitney and Bear wrote on Facebook. “When we started this journey over a year ago our goal was to provide the community with a year-round source of high quality goods and services. That remains the focus and turning that vision into reality is within weeks of happening.”

When they do open in early May, the owners say the shelves will have plenty of local favorites and all other areas of the store will be stocked.

The kitchen/prep area also will be nearing completion so prepared foods, bakery items and the deli will be limited at first.

Locals pointed out in the comments that Bob and Tom’s grocery was in the location years, which then became Harbor Market in the late 70s and to eventually turned into the Red Owl in the 80s.

Without a full service groceries in recent years, shoppers still have had Bailey’s 57 just down the road with a variety of convenience store items, groceries in the back and homemade sandwiches.
