CARLSVILLE — One person is dead following what is now being described as a water tank explosion Saturday morning at a Door County campground.
An update Saturday from the Egg Harbor Fire Department said that it was a 3,000 gallon water tank that exploded as resort employees were flushing water lines to winterize the park for the end of the season.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office initial news release described it as an air tank explosion.
According to a news release, the Door County Sheriff’s Office was contacted about 7:45 a.m. Saturday of an air tank explosion at Harbour Village Campground and Waterpark, located at 5840 State Highway 42 just north of Carlsville.
Upon arrival, the responding deputy observed that a storage building had been partially destroyed by the explosion and discovered one person dead outside the building.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
Emergency personnel from the Egg Harbor Fire Department, Egg Harbor Emergency Medical Responders, Door County Emergency Services, and the Door County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
