STURGEON BAY — The busiest gateway to northern Door County will be closed for two days next week for maintenance, according to the Wisconsin DOT.

The bridge will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 19-20.

The bridge will be open, but traffic will be slowed by flagging operations Thursday, Oct. 21 and again Monday-Thursday, Oct. 25-28.

The Oregon Street and Michigan Street bridges downtown will remain open.

Door County, Sturgeon Bay (Bayview Bridge full closure)

  • Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 19 and 20 (Daily: 7 am to 3:30 pm)
    • There will be a FULL CLOSURE of the bridge from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19 and Wednesday, Oct. 20 for drain and pier cleaning.
      • Traffic can use the downtown Sturgeon Bay bridges to cross the channel.
      • Bridge open to marine traffic.
  • Thursday, Oct. 21 and Monday through Thursday, Oct. 25 to 28 (Flagging only)
    • Following the cleaning, bridge maintenance crews will perform routine repair on a bridge stringer (load-transferring structure below the grid deck). The bridge will remain open. Flagging operations will take place on the bridge at various times during the daytime hours to repair bridge stringer. Bridge will remain open, but motorists may encounter brief delays.
