ROWLEY’S BAY — Rowleys Bay Resort, one of Door County’s iconic vacation destinations, suffered a major fire Tuesday.

Multiple departments from throughout the county responded to the fire that broke out about mid-day.

In a social media post, Rowleys Bay Resort said all employees had been accounted for as they worked on arrangements for current guests who had to be evacuated.

Many guests like were able to stay in other area hotels that reached out to help.

The Red Cross also assisted.

Due to the extent of the damage, Rowleys Bay Resort, Grandma’s Swedish Bakery, Rowley’s Pub, and Rowleys Bay Restaurant are closed and unable to accept guests for the foreseeable future, according to the resort.

They are currently collecting the resources they need to reestablish an office space so they can communicate with guests regarding their upcoming reservations.

Because all of their administrative offices and equipment were lost in the fire, they expect this to take a few days.

As soon as they can get records from their reservation system on Wednesday, they’ll be contacting guests in order of their arrival date.

If you have plans to stay at the resort, here’s what they posted to their Facebook page shortly after the fire:

Rowleys Bay Resort and its attached businesses are currently affected by a building-wide fire. The building has been evacuated and all staff have been accounted for.
