SISTER BAY — The popular Wild Tomato restaurants in Door County will remain open after being purchased by a Door County family.

Matthew and Karla Sagorac closed on the business Dec. 28, 2023.

The Sagoracs, who have two children who attend Gibraltar Schools, said in a news release that they are committed to ensuring the community remains one of the most beautiful places to live, work, and enjoy.

They have been successful at running many previous businesses, and their primary goal is to continue with the tradition of the Wild Tomato Pizza restaurant as a family-friendly, casual place serving the locals and visitors, and most importantly to engage with and give back to our amazing community.

Wild Tomato Fish Creek and Wild Tomato Sister Bay have been operating as usual, and the entire staff was immediately rehired, including the management team Hunter Jonas (General Manager), David Janecek (Culinary Director), Juan Ornelas (Director of Marketing), and Julie Jonas (Team Manager).

Previous owners Britt and Liz Unkefer will be part of the management team for a limited period helping with the transition and ensuring Wild Tomato continues remain as it has been since the first location opened in 2008 in Fish Creek.
